Our History
In May 2018, Savannah was named one of two Technology Corridors in the State of Georgia by SR-821, a resolution signed by the Governor. In 2021, a subsequent resolution, HR 248 was passed by the General Assembly and signed by the Governor. HR 248 defined a geographic region for the corridor and includes all of Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham, Liberty and Screven counties in the Coastal region.
The efforts to receive the designation was led by a group of dedicated local business and community leaders and eventually led to the creation of the Savannah Logistics Innovation Center (SLIC).
Today the SLIC is a public-private partnership led by Georgia Southern University and the Savannah Economic Development Authority as well as additional partners including the Georgia Ports Authority, Savannah State University, Georgia Power, Savannah Technical College, Foram and the Georgia Department of Transportation.
In August 2021, Bart Gobeil of Platform Strategies was hired to lead the efforts to make Savannah a globally recognized leader in the logistics technology industry.
